Haran (mbd)

Haran, ha'-ran (Heb.)–strong; elevated; exalted; mountaineer.

a Brother of Abram, and the father of Lot (Gen. 11:27). b A place where Abram and his father lived after they left Ur of the Chaldees to go into the land of Canaan (Gen. 11:31). It was here that Terah, Abram's father, died (Gen. 11:32). c A son of Shimei of the Gershonite Levites (I Chron. 23:9).

Meta. An exalted state of mind, wherein Truth is lifted up in consciousness and the individual is strengthened in his determination to go on toward fuller spiritual enlightenment and upliftment.
