Sarai (mbd)

Sarai, sa'-rai (Heb.)–bitter; contentious; dominative; quarrelsome.

The name of Abraham's wife before the Lord changed it to Sarah (Gen. 17:15).

Meta. In Sarai the soul is contending for its rightful place in consciousness; the individual is just recognizing the fact that his affections and emotions (his soul) are in essence divine and must not be united with material conditions, but with Spirit. In Sarah this is more fully realized and expressed.
