Shammah (mbd)

Shammah, sham'-mah (Heb.)–astonishment; amazement; awe; laid waste; desolation; destruction; ruin; rumor; report; repute; fame; renown.

a Son of Reuel, one of Esau's sons, and a chief of Edom (Gen. 36:13). b A son of Jesse and brother of David (I Sam. 16:9). Shammah, son of Jesse, is called Shimeah in II Samuel 13:3, and Shimea in I Chronicles 2:13. c There were others by this name also (II Sam. 23:11, 25, 33).
