Zoar (mbd)

Zoar, zo'–är (Heb.)–reduced; made small; lessened; smallness; littleness; brought low; despised; contemned; dishonored.

One of the cities of the plain. to which Lot escaped when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed (Gen. 13:10; 19:22). It was the same city as Bela (Gen. 14:2). In Isaiah 15:5 and Jeremiah 48:34 Zoar is mentioned as being a city of Moab.
